PETALING JAYA, April 16 (Bernama) -- ASEAN Records today recognised BYON Group as the ‘First and Largest Cross-Border Short-Stay Property Management Company’ at the Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Forum & Expo 2026.
The recognition was presented by ASEAN Records chief adjudicator Gillian Ooi to BYON chief executive officer and founder Mavis Yap at an event held at Hextar World, Empire City, here.
The recognition marks a significant milestone in BYON Group's growth across Malaysia and Southeast Asia, reflecting its expanding regional footprint in the short-stay property management segment.
Speaking to Bernama after receiving the recognition, Yap said it reflected the company’s continued commitment to operational excellence, guest experience and industry leadership across the region.
"The company consistently achieves an 80-90 per cent occupancy benchmark across key properties, supported by strong guest satisfaction scores and multiple recognitions from global online travel platforms including Agoda, Booking.com, C-Trip and more.
"BYON actively drives demand through strategic Key Opinion Leader and Key Opinion Consumer collaborations, celebrity endorsements and campaigns such as #OurBYONYear, designed to encourage direct bookings via its official platform, byongroup.com," she said.
Yap said the ASEAN Records milestone would contribute to cross-border travel growth across Malaysia and Southeast Asia, while the company strengthens collaborations with international travel partners, agencies and brands to expand its reach and accessibility, and to drive greater tourism opportunities both into and within Malaysia.
She added that the milestone also reflected the growth and recognition of the STRA industry, which is becoming more stable, fast-growing and increasingly notable, while offering the comfort of home with a hotel-style experience for modern travellers.
Yap also said guests under the #OurBYONYear campaign can enjoy exclusive benefits, including special discounts, and stand a chance to win rewards worth more than RM50,000, ranging from international flight tickets to complimentary stays across BYON properties.
Formerly known as The Flash Group, BYON was established in 2018 and has grown into an award-winning hospitality and short-stay property management group operating across Malaysia and selected international markets.
The group now manages more than 1,000 units and 1,200 rooms across 22 buildings in 10 states in Malaysia and overseas, supported by more than 100 employees.
The two-day STRA Forum & Expo 2026, which began today, is an event dedicated exclusively to the STRA ecosystem, bringing together operators, hosts, real estate agents, developers, solution providers and other key stakeholders for forums, exhibitions and networking.
