AIA Vitality Turns 10: A Decade Of Driving Healthier Choices Nationwide

14/04/2026 08:40 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14  (Bernama) -- A decade after its launch, AIA Malaysia’s science-backed health and wellness programme, AIA Vitality, is proving that incentivising healthy habits can lead to significant medical improvements for Malaysians.

According to the group, the platform that was launched in 2016, is a comprehensive health and wellness programme that equips members with the knowledge, tools and motivation to lead healthier lives, built on behavioural science principles to drive sustainable health habits.

It also rewards members with benefits and discounts for taking proactive steps towards better health, including regular physical activity, balanced nutrition and routine health check-ups.

“Ten years on, AIA Vitality has grown more than tenfold to reach over 391,000 members nationwide, reflecting increasing demand for engagement-led health solutions.

“In 2025 alone, members recorded 230 billion steps, equivalent to walking around the earth more than 4,500 times and earned over RM18 million in rewards for sustained healthy behaviours,” the group said in a statement today.

The programme is built around three main pillars that guide members on their health journey - Know Your Health, Improve Your Health and Enjoy the Rewards.

As of Dec 31 last year, data from AIA Vitality Health Checks demonstrates the programme’s significant and measurable impact on members’ health, with 49 per cent having improved their blood pressure, 61 per cent achieving healthier cholesterol levels, 79 per cent improving glucose levels and 43 per cent recording improvements in Body Mass Index (BMI).

AIA Malaysia Chief Marketing Officer Chai Tze Siang said the results underscore the effectiveness of AIA Vitality as a long-term preventive health platform that raises early awareness of health risks and drives sustained behavioural change among customers.

Meanwhile, its Chief Executive Officer Heng Zee Wang said the programme has empowered Malaysians to take charge of their health, make better lifestyle choices and be rewarded for the small actions that contribute to meaningful change.

“Over the past 10 years, we have helped our members move more, eat better, prioritise rest, and improve key health metrics. We are proud that this programme has not only changed behaviours at scale, but has also redefined what insurance can do, in line with our mission to help Malaysians live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives,” he said.

Built into selected AIA life insurance and takaful plans, AIA Vitality rewards customers not only for being protected but also for taking proactive steps to stay healthy, with benefits such as cashback, health rewards and wealth boosters.

Members can also progress through status tiers from Bronze to Platinum, unlocking greater value as engagement increases.

As it enters its second decade, AIA Vitality will place greater emphasis on personalisation, with members benefiting from tailored activity targets and customised feedback through integrated digital tools, enabling the programme to meet individuals at different stages of their health journeys.

Marking its 10th anniversary, the programme will continue to evolve into a more inclusive platform, supported by initiatives such as the AIA Vitality Carnival and Score Marathon, reflecting AIA Malaysia’s commitment to making preventive health accessible, engaging and relevant for Malaysians.
