WASHINGTON, April 3 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- US President Donald Trump is seeking a 10 per cent decrease in non-defence spending in fiscal year 2027, the White House said in the president's topline discretionary budget proposal, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"Non-defence spending is reduced by US$73 billion, or 10 per cent, while still providing support for our Nation’s veterans, seniors, law enforcement, and other critical priorities for the Federal Government. Savings are achieved by reducing or eliminating woke, weaponised, and wasteful programmes, and by returning State and local responsibilities to their respective governments," the document read.
For FY2027, Trump requests a total of US$1.5 trillion for defence, including a 44 per cent increase for the Department of War.
