SPM 2025: Achivements Of Orang Asli Students Reflect Commitment Of JAKOA - DPM Ahmad Zahid

31/03/2026 04:50 PM

PUTRAJAYA, March 31 (Bernama) -- The outstanding achievements of Orang Asli students in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 reflect the continued commitment of the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) together with various agencies in empowering the community's education, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said the success proved that every student received equal attention and opportunities regardless of where they were.

"Today, we witnessed a very proud achievement when four Orang Asli students successfully obtained 9A results, while 114 students recorded excellent results of 5A and above, an increase from 87 students last year," he said in a statement today.

As the individual in charge MARA, he expressed his pride in the 7,636 SPM candidates from 57 MARA Junior Science Colleges (MRSM) who continue to create excellence, including 80 MRSM candidates who managed to obtain all A+ in SPM 2025.

"Further, the SPM 2025 results for MRSM recorded a College Grade Average (GPM) index of 2.067 with 100 per cent of candidates eligible to receive the examination certificate.

"The five MRSM are in the top overall group, surpassing Full Boarding Schools (SBP) and other day schools nationwide," he said.

He said that as a result of various ongoing government initiatives, particularly the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), the achievement gap between urban and rural candidates has narrowed by 0.04 points based on the National Average Grade (GPK).

“The government will continue to strengthen the rural education ecosystem, including providing a more conducive learning environment so that every student can achieve their best potential,” he said.

He said institutions such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and GiatMARA provide a wider space for students to explore their potential through a more structured and comprehensive UP_TVET ecosystem.

“Today, TVET is no longer a second choice, but has become the new mainstream in building a skilled, high-income workforce that is relevant to future industry needs. In fact, 53.9 per cent of SPM graduates chose the TVET route," he said.

Therefore, Ahmad Zahid congratulated all SPM 2025 candidates for their very proud achievements, describing it as the result of the students' hard work, the extraordinary dedication of educators, and the prayers and continuous support of parents.

"This year's performance is very encouraging when a total of 13,779 candidates managed to record excellent results by obtaining Grades A+, A and A- in all subjects," he said.
