KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 (Bernama) -- MATTA Fair 2026 will feature a vibrant showcase of travel deals, cultural experiences and international collaborations, with Macao once again in the spotlight as this year’s International Favourite Destination.
Held from April 3 to 5 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, the fair continues to position itself as Malaysia’s largest consumer travel event, connecting visitors to destinations worldwide while reinforcing MATTA’s commitment to driving industry growth.
MATTA vice president of Research and Technology Mohd Hizzat Mohd Shah said Macao’s return as the favourite international destination reflects growing interest among Malaysians in rediscovering world-class destinations offering culture, entertainment, gastronomy and unique experiences.
“We want every visitor to feel the excitement of planning their next adventure, knowing that the world is waiting with open arms,” he said in a press conference here today.
He said this year, MATTA is offering more unique attractions in Macao Fair compared to last year, including diverse cultural and gastronomic experiences such as the International Gastronomy Festival, featuring cooking demonstrations and free food tasting sessions.
In addition, visitors can look forward to international parades, concerts, and a wide range of entertainment events, including the Macau Grand Prix, all contributing to a more vibrant experience in Macao at increasingly affordable prices.
Meanwhile, Macao Government Tourism Office deputy director, Cheng Wai Tong, said Macao’s selection as this year’s highlight for the second consecutive year at the upcoming MATTA Fair presents a strong opportunity to boost visitor arrivals from Malaysia, one of its key markets in Southeast Asia.
“We will make full use of this premier platform to showcase Macao’s ‘tourism +’ offerings and present a range of special travel products tailored to Malaysian travellers,” he said.
He said visitors will have the opportunity to experience the charm of Macao’s intangible cultural heritage through hands-on workshops, such as Tai Chi, Wing Chun and Portuguese tile painting.
This year’s MATTA Fair features 2,043 booths and 330 participating organisations, including 210 tour and travel agencies offering a diverse range of curated travel packages.
