PUTRAJAYA, March 13 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Education (MoE) has denied allegations that the engagement session with private kindergarten stakeholders in the northern zone yesterday (March 12) was held at a church, as has gone viral on social media.
Education director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad, while upset with the unfounded allegations, said the session was held in the Assumption International Secondary School hall in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, which is registered with the ministry.
He said the school was chosen based on several factors, including its amenities and facilities, as well as to highlight the role of international schools in the country's private education ecosystem.
"The selection of Assumption International Secondary School also proves the good synergy between the MoE and private education providers,” he said in a statement today.
He described the claims, which had gone viral, as clearly malicious and an attempt to create confusion and tarnish the ministry's image.
"Taking the lessons of the Ramadan month, the MoE urges all parties to increase their acts of worship and not be involved in acts of slander,” he said.
