Sultan Nazrin Breaks Fast With Media, NGOs And Receives Zakat Worth RM5.4 Mln

KUALA KANGSAR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, graced a break-fast ceremony with the media, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the corporate sector, the private sector, government-linked companies, and youth at Istana Iskandariah here tonight.

Also in attendance was the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim and distinguished guests included Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and the Chairman of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk), Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini.

Additionally, Media Prima Berhad Group Chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Syed Hussian Aljunid, Media Prima Group Managing Director Datuk Mohd Rafiq Mat Razali, Director-General of Broadcasting Ashwad Ismail, and Sinar Karangkraf Group Editor-in-Chief Zamri Rambli were also present.

Before breaking fast and performing the Maghrib prayer, Sultan Nazrin joined the recitation of tahlil, followed by congregational Isyak and Tarawih prayers with the guests.

Earlier, Sultan Nazrin consented to receive business zakat (tithes) totaling RM5,417,188.56 from eight corporate companies and two individuals for Zakat Perak Al Ridzuan (ZAPAR).

The presentation of zakat was led by Datuk Abdullah Abdul Mannan with an income zakat contribution of RM1,000,000, followed by Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa), represented by its President, Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah, amounting to RM364,852.56.

This was followed by business zakat from Belati, represented by Johawaki Group Chief Executive Officer Mohamad Akmal Johari, totaling RM380,000, Boustead Plantations Berhad, represented by Managing Director Datuk Zulkarnain Md Eusope, contributed RM434,000.

CelcomDigi Berhad, represented by the Head of Region (Northern Region) Farizad Khan Msm Mohamed Ali, contributed RM107,000 and Johawaki Plantation Sdn. Bhd represented by Johawaki Group Chief Marketing Officer Abdul Hadi Abdul Rahim, contributed RM150,800.

The business zakat presentation continued with the Land Surveyors Board Malaysia, represented by Board Secretary Mohd Riza Halim, totaling RM250,000, followed by the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), represented by Chief Operating Officer Mastura Mohd Khalid, which contributed RM200,000.

An income zakat contribution was also presented by Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, totaling RM2,300,000 while the final business zakat presentation was from TM Technology Services Sdn Bhd, represented by the General Manager of TM Network Perak, Sallehuddin Khalif, amounting to RM230,536.
