KANGAR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- A Special One-Stop Centre (OSC) for the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) development permits will be established as part of efforts to enhance infrastructure and accessibility in Perlis.

Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah said in its initial phase, the CVIA Special OSC will be coordinated by the Perlis Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia) in close collaboration with relevant technical departments, including the Public Works Department and other related agencies.

He said the integrated approach is to ensure that every development application is processed in a more transparent, systematic and effective manner.

“The establishment of this Special OSC is to facilitate, coordinate, and expedite the approval process for development and investment applications in the area in a more efficient and integrated manner,” he said in a press conference after chairing the State Executive Council meeting at Kompleks Seri Putra here today.

Abu Bakar said the initiative to set up the CVIA Special OSC is in line with the state government’s decision to establish the Padang Besar (Interim) local authority, which is scheduled to begin operations on Jan 1, 2027.

However, he said to ensure that CVIA development can be implemented more swiftly and in an orderly manner, the state government has agreed to bring forward the implementation of Phase 1 of the Padang Besar (Interim) local authority, covering the entire industrial area and the Perlis Inland Port (PIP), effective March 1.
