KUANTAN, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has expressed profound grief and disappointment over the tragic murder incident that occurred in Cherating today.

His Royal Highness decreed that such an incident should never have happened and is deeply shocking, especially as it involves an entire family.

"This should not happen, and as the Sovereign, I advise the people to keep a watchful eye on those who exhibit such tendencies; it must not be ignored," His Royal Highness stated in a post uploaded to the Pahang Sultanate's Facebook page.

The Sultan also urged the public to remain vigilant regarding behavioral changes in individuals around them and not to take lightly any signs that could lead to untoward incidents.

In addition, His Royal Highness invited the people to join in reciting Al-Fatihah for the victims who perished in the tragedy.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:00 am today, involved two young girls aged 3 and 4, and their parents, aged 28 and 32, who were all found in a bedroom.

Also involved was a 55-year-old woman - the mother of the 32-year-old man - who was found dead in the kitchen area.

Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman reportedly said that the 32-year-old man is believed to have attacked his wife, mother, and two children with a sharp weapon, suspected to be a knife, before turning the weapon on himself.

He also died at the scene.
