15/02/2026 06:43 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called on the Chinese community in the state to become a strategic development partner and help build a progressive Sabah.

In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office today, Hajiji urged the Chinese community to continue strengthening cooperation with the state government in developing Sabah.

He said the state government aspires to further empower the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 (SMJ 2.0) initiative to drive economic growth, human capital development and the well-being of the people.

“Through SMJ 2.0, we ensure that progress is inclusive and that the state’s prosperity is enjoyed inclusively, regardless of race and background, because unity is the key to the stability and prosperity of this state,” he said.

Hajiji added that the Chinese New Year, which embodies the values of family, unity and new hope, not only reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese community but also serves as a platform to strengthen harmony and the spirit of togetherness among Sabah’s multiracial population.

“2026, celebrated as the Year of the Fire Horse, carries the symbols of energy, courage and innovation. This spirit inspires us to continue moving forward with structured planning and close cooperation for Sabah’s sustainable and balanced development.

“I wish the Chinese community in Sabah, in particular, and throughout the country in general, a Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai,” he said.
