KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- Intermark Mall is celebrating the Year of the Horse with a vibrant Peranakan-inspired Chinese New Year (CNY) theme, Heritage in Bloom, from Feb 26, offering visitors an opportunity to experience tradition through a contemporary lens that reflects the optimism and new beginnings of the season.
General Manager Marketing of Intermark Mall, Evelyn Woon, said the theme that draws inspiration from the rich artistry of Peranakan culture highlights Malaysia’s multicultural identity and layered history.
“Peranakan culture is a reflection of Malaysia’s layered history, where different influences have come together to form something distinctive and deeply rooted,” she said in a statement today.
The campaign transforms the mall’s Ground Floor Atrium into a vibrant Peranakan-inspired setting featuring intricate floral designs, ornate patterns and colourful décor, anchored by a signature Peranakan House installation.
The campaign also presents cultural traditions in a way that resonates naturally with modern city lifestyles.
“With Heritage in Bloom, we want to highlight these cultural expressions in a way that feels natural within an urban lifestyle setting, allowing both locals and international visitors to experience tradition as part of everyday celebration.
“And there is no better time than now, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, to bring this experiential celebration to life in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Expect to find authentic Peranakan kebayas, intricately crafted beaded Nyonya sandals and flavours at Intermark Mall this season,” Evelyn said.
As part of the festivities, the Heritage CNY Marketplace features curated offerings from tenants including Carven Ong and SoMe Boutique, showcasing festive fashion, merchandise and artisanal finds with a contemporary touch.
The celebration also includes traditional lion dance performances, an Elegant Table Setting and Dining Etiquette showcase inspired by Peranakan heritage, and curated table styling elements by interior stylist Dr Garima Chopra.
Food lovers can explore Peranakan flavours through cooking ingredients and cookbooks by celebrity chef Debbie Teoh, who was honoured at the World Gourmet Awards 2024.
The campaign also incorporates sustainability-focused initiatives such as Blooming Spring Cleaning, a pre-loved clothing collection drive, and the ReBag initiative, alongside festive redemptions including exclusive Intermark Mall angpow packets and CNY rewards.
