Car Driven By Man Positive For Drug Allegedly Crashed And Killed Motorcyclist

SEREMBAN, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- A motorcyclist died after being hit by a car driven by a man who tested positive for cannabis at KM 23 Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah yesterday.

Kuala Pilah district police chief Supt Muhamad Mustafah Hussin said in the 11.10 pm incident, the man, 28, who worked as a restaurant assistant and was riding a Honda motorcycle, was confirmed dead at the scene.

"Initial investigations found that the accident is believed to have occurred when a Perodua Viva driven by a 23-year-old man from the direction of Seremban towards Felda Keratong is believed to have lost control before entering the opposite lane.

"The victim, who was on his way home in Senawang, did not have time to avoid the car before being hit," he said in a statement here today.

He said the driver of the car suffered minor injuries and a urine test found him positive for cannabis and was detained to assist in investigations under Section 44 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
