Wilfred Madius Appointed POIC Sabah Chairman, Roger Chin As Invest Sabah Chairman

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 29 (Bernama) --Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, who is also Tamparuli state assemblyman has been appointed Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) Sabah chairman, while former Sabah Customs director Datuk Jonathan Kandok is deputy chairman.

Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also state Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister said nominated state assemblyman Datuk Roger Chin has been entrusted to lead Invest Sabah Bhd as chairman.

He said the appointments play an important role in driving state-linked companies, particularly in efforts to attract quality investments and enhance Sabah’s competitiveness.

“The appointment of these three experienced figures reflects the state government’s commitment to ensuring that Sabah’s investment, industrial and logistics sectors continue to be driven in an orderly, inclusive and high-impact manner.

“These appointments are in line with the ‘Sabah First’ approach, where the interests and benefits of the people and the Sabah economy are always given priority,” he said in a statement after presenting the appointment letters to the three here today.

Ewon said he remains committed to continuing the "Sabah First" agenda in his ministry by placing strong emphasis on the development of an investor- and entrepreneur-friendly investment and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

State Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Ministry's permanent secretary Datuk Thomas Logijin, POIC Sabah chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Gredian Gan, and Invest Sabah CEO Dr Firdausi Suffian were also present at the event.

POIC Sabah, established in 2005, manages a industrial and logistics hub in Lahad Datu involved in downstream palm oil processing, in addition to creating job opportunities and attracting investments in related industries such as ports, biomass, and biorefineries.

Invest Sabah, established in 2020, has a mission to attract strategic investments into Sabah to drive structural transformation through a dynamic domestic ecosystem and foster an inclusive economy. It is dedicated to advancing sustainability and promoting digital innovation based on economic and investment policies.
