Over 20,000 Attend Regimen Gerak Khas Diamond Jubilee

MELAKA, Dec 28 (Bernama) -- Over 20,000 people attended the joint family day for the Rejimen Gerak Khas 60th Anniversary Phase 2 in Klebang since yesterday, said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said it showed strong public interest and support for the nation’s security forces.

Ab Rauf said the celebrations featured a range of events from family-friendly activities and elite force exhibitions to special combat demonstrations and a display of 28 Malaysian Army assets.

“…the public can also take part in nine interactive events, getting a close-up experience with the nation’s security forces,” he said at the opening ceremony, attended by 21st Gerup Gerak Khas (GGK) commander Maj Gen Datuk Ahmad Shuhaimi Mat Wajab today.

He said the joint family day went beyond a celebration, highlighting families as the backbone of the regiment’s strength, resilience and success.

Ab Rauf said under the Gerak Khas Diamond Jubilee theme: Warisan Keberanian, Legasi Kegagahan, the celebrations made history by being held outside a military camp for the first time, adding that the planned activities can foster patriotism and strengthen public trust in the forces that defend the nation.
