Vidakovic Questions Unawarded Penalty As KL City Held To 1-1 Draw By Kuching City

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 25 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur (KL) City  FC head coach Risto Vidakovic voiced his disappointment over the referee’s decision not to award a penalty, during his side’s 1-1 draw against Kuching City FC last night.

Vidakovic said the incident, which occurred in the second half, could have changed the outcome of the match.

“I saw it clearly on the video after the game. The player’s jersey was pulled from behind.

“It was holding, holding, and then he fell. For me, it was a very clear penalty,” he said at the post-match  press conference.

Despite the setback, the Croatian praised his players performance, noting that Kuala Lumpur City FC created numerous chances and controlled large periods of the game but failed to capitalise.

“We dominated the first half, played very well and missed many chances. It’s part of football, but what I saw today, we should have won clearly,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kuching City head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak described the draw against the City Boys as a fair result and said he was satisfied to secure a point away from home.

“Overall, I’m happy with the boys’ performance tonight and with the result. We remain second in the league, and the most important thing is that we didn’t lose.

“Over the past few matches, our only defeat came against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT),” he said.
