StarCruises Welcomes RMHC Malaysia Families Aboard The Star Voyager

20/12/2025 02:16 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 (Bernama)  -- StarCruises, in collaboration with Ronald McDonald House Charities Malaysia (RMHC Malaysia), hosted nearly 200 families and paediatric patients aboard the Star Voyager, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to support families with children undergoing medical treatment.

The event coincided with the Star Voyager’s maiden deployment for the 2025/2026 sailing season from Port Klang, which runs from Dec 19 to Feb 2 2026, offering cruises to destinations including Phuket, Singapore and Bintan.

StarDream Cruises president Michael Goh said the initiative reflects StarCruises’ ongoing commitment to community engagement under its CSR theme, “Bringing Hope and Happiness Onboard and Beyond” aimed at fostering meaningful partnerships across various ports and destinations throughout Asia.

RMHC Malaysia provides temporary accommodation through the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) programme for families accompanying children receiving long-term medical treatment at Hospital Tunku Azizah, and he said StarCruises was honoured to welcome RMHC families aboard the Star Voyager as it begins its Port Klang sailing season.

“It was a joy for our crew to spend the day with the children and their families, sharing smiles, laughter and memorable moments together. We hope this experience has brought happiness and created lasting memories for everyone involved,” he said in a statement today.

The event featured appearances by StarCruises and McDonald’s mascots alongside family-friendly acrobatic acts, magic shows and dance performances by the ship’s crew, with selected families also surprised by complimentary cruise packages for a future holiday aboard the Star Voyager or her sister ship, Genting Dream, departing from Port Klang.

During the visit, RMH families were treated to a Halal afternoon tea at The Lido restaurant, which includes a dedicated Halal-certified dining section. Children also participated in balloon art, clown performances and craft activities, while crew members conducted guided tours of the ship’s recreational facilities.

RMHC Malaysia general manager Mohd Nasri Mohd Nordin said collaborations of this nature help provide much-needed emotional relief for families facing the challenges of long-term hospitalisation.

“Experiences like these give families the opportunity to take a temporary break from the stressful hospital environment. We hope more companies and members of the community will support families in need through RMHC Malaysia,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Rohaya, whose son Aryan Haiqal was born with a serious congenital condition, expressed her gratitude for the experience.

“This was something we never imagined, especially after going through very difficult times. This joyful experience will surely be remembered by Aryan forever,” she said.

StarCruises said its mission aligns closely with RMHC Malaysia’s commitment to supporting local communities, adding that it will continue to leverage its cruising platform to create positive social impact.
