MELAKA, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government has contributed RM300,000 to the state police contingent to be distributed among three district police headquarters (IPD), said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said each IPD would receive RM100,000 to be channelled as welfare assistance for the children of serving and former police officers, as well as personnel in need.

He was speaking at the “Jelajah Wira MADANI: Bantuan Khas Persekolahan untuk Anak-anak Warga IPK Melaka” programme, which was also attended by Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail and Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar.

Under the initiative, 357 children of police officers received school assistance in the form of cash ranging from RM100 to RM150 and vouchers, while three retired police officers received RM500 each.

Ab Rauf said the contribution, although modest, reflects the state government’s continued appreciation for the sacrifices and loyalty of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and their families, expressing hope that it would help ease burdens and support children’s educational aspirations.

Meanwhile, Mohd Khalid said the assistance demonstrated the government’s commitment to strengthening MADANI values and supporting the welfare of PDRM families, adding that it would help ease financial pressures ahead of the upcoming school session while motivating children to strive for a brighter future.
