KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- The Anak Kita initiative has proven effective, with its 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Acceleration programme surpassing its initial target, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

She said that, according to the report presented by the Hasanah Foundation team and the MADANI Monitoring Unit yesterday, the reading, writing, and counting (3M) intervention initiative has also shown encouraging progress.

She added the ministry is satisfied with the effectiveness of Anak Kita, after nearly a year of its implementation.

“Last year, the MADANI Government, through the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, launched the Anak Kita initiative to address the issue of student dropouts, improve literacy and numeracy skills, and assist students in preparing for the SPM examination.

“After almost a year of implementation, various intervention programmes have been successfully carried out through strategic collaborations with Yayasan Hasanah, the MADANI Monitoring Unit, public universities, corporate companies, and civil society organisations (CSOs),” she said in a Facebook post today.

Fadhlina added that Anak Kita is being closely monitored in terms of its planning, implementation, and overall effectiveness.

She expressed hope that the initiative’s reach can continue to be expanded to benefit more students across the country.
