PUTRAJAYA, July 2 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is enhancing its collaboration with the Ministry of Communications to combat false and unlawful information on social media, ensuring national safety and the well-being of citizens.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said his meeting today with Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil centred on efforts to address the increasingly complex security challenges in the digital era.
"I believe this is a key priority for the PDRM to ensure national and public safety is preserved, not only for the present but also for the future.
"The Communications Minister also expressed hope that the close cooperation between the PDRM and the ministry can be fully harnessed, especially in addressing issues involving social media," he told Bernama after the meeting today.
Mohd Khalid was appointed as the 15th IGP on June 20, succeeding Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, who retired from service.
