Rimba Raid X Lenggong 2025 Targets 280 Riders This June
IPOH, May 24 (Bernama) -- The 10th edition of the international extreme motorsports event, Rimba Raid X Lenggong 2025, aims to attract no fewer than 280 riders for the event, which will be held in Lenggong from June 26 to 29.
Rimba Raid founder Captain Datuk Nik Huzlan Nik Hussain said the largest contingent would be from Thailand, comprising 22 male and four female riders. He added that besides Malaysia, there would also be participants from Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, and several European countries.
"We expect the riders and visitors to enliven Lenggong, Gerik, and Kuala Kangsar from June 23 to 30, 2025.
"Throughout the week-long Rimba Raid X Lenggong 2025 event, all types of accommodation, such as homestays, resorts, and other lodging facilities, have been fully booked to meet the needs of participants and guests," he said at the event’s media launch here today.
Also present were Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, who is also Lenggong MP, and State Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee.
Meanwhile, Nik Huzlan said that they were also targeting 80 per cent of all participants to complete the race in this year's event.
He said that those who typically failed to finish the race often encountered technical problems with their motorcycles, besides issues such as insufficient fitness and preparation.
Loh, meanwhile, said that more than 10,000 visitors, including participants and their team members, were expected to attend the tropical jungle motorcycle race series, which has gained renown since 2015.
"We will also have a designated area where the public can watch the race. This time, it will be at Pulau Petanda," he said.
Shamsul Anuar said the event could also establish Lenggong as a tourism destination focused on Sports Tourism, thereby boosting the local economy.
Rimba Raid X Lenggong 2025 will feature six racing categories, offering opportunities for various types of machinery and participant experience levels.
The class divisions are Class A for multi-cylinder motorcycles over 1,000cc, Class B (multi-cylinder motorcycles between 250cc and 999cc), Class C (single-cylinder motorcycles between 250cc and 800cc), and Class D (‘Adventure Kapcai’, specifically for small motorcycles modified for extreme adventure use).
The two other categories are Class E for Adventure Scooters, a growing genre among urban riders and light adventurers, and Class F for E-bikes (electric motorcycles), reflecting technological advancements and sustainability in motorsports.
The race will commence with the first day of racing on a 10-kilometre (km) track at Pulau Petanda on Saturday, June 28, followed by the second day's race, which will be flagged off from Dataran Tasik Sandarhalu, Kampung Luat, the following day.
On the second day of the race, participants will tackle a challenging off-road jungle route spanning nearly 250km, traversing demanding forest areas, rivers, hills, and mountains around the Piah Forest Reserve.
