LANGKAWI, May 24 (Bernama) -- The LIMA Aerospace Talent Challenge, organised by the Malaysian Air Friends Club (KRUM), has successfully demonstrated the capability of the younger generation to tackle 21st-century technological challenges, particularly in the aerospace sector.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, in a Facebook post, said this was evident from the participation of some 200 secondary school and university students in high-innovation competitions such as the FPV Drone Race, Aeronautic Model Renovation, and Rocketry Design held in conjunction with the exhibition.
The competition showcased creativity and a competitive spirit aligned with the nation's aspirations in aerospace development.
“As part of the MADANI Government’s commitment, a Sports Matching Grant (GPS) of RM45,000 was allocated to strengthen this platform as a means of nurturing youth talent in air sports and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) disciplines,” she said.
Hannah expressed hope that the grant would serve as a catalyst for the creation of professional careers in the rapidly growing aerospace industry.
The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA’25), jointly organised by the Ministry of Defence and Global Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn Bhd (GEC), carried the theme Today’s Innovation, Tomorrow’s Achievements, with a focus on innovation and competitiveness among maritime and aerospace industry players.
The biennial exhibition, which began on May 20 in Langkawi, Kedah, concluded today. It has been the largest maritime and aerospace exhibition in Southeast Asia since its inception in 1991.
