SEPANG, May 24 (Bernama) -- Foreign ministers from Bahrain, Singapore and Indonesia have arrived in Malaysia to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.
Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani was among the earliest diplomats to arrive, touching down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 at 8.20 am before proceeding to the Bunga Raya Complex.
Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and his spouse arrived at KLIA Terminal 1 at 10.12 am, followed by Indonesia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono at 11.34 am.
The 46th ASEAN Summit will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on May 26 and 27, alongside the second ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit.
The ASEAN Summit will bring together leaders from member states to deliberate on regional developments and chart the future direction of ASEAN cooperation.
It has been reported that Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit.
This marks Malaysia’s fifth time chairing ASEAN, following its previous terms in 1977, 1997, 2005 and 2015.
