Ahmad Zahid Congratulates S'pore PM Wong On Election Victory

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 (Bernama) – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his congratulations to Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on the resounding victory of his party, the People’s Action Party (PAP), in the republic’s 2025 General Election (GE2025) on Saturday.

In a Facebook post, he said the victory was a strong mandate that clearly reflected the people's trust and confidence in Wong’s leadership.

“I believe this victory is a signal that the people of Singapore have faith in his progressive policies and his vision for the city-state’s future,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid expressed confidence that under Wong’s leadership, Malaysia-Singapore ties would continue to flourish and usher in a new chapter of mutually beneficial regional cooperation.

He said that Malaysia and Singapore are not only geographical neighbours but also strategic partners who share special historical, cultural and economic ties.

“May Singapore continue to prosper and flourish under his administration, and may the close Malaysia-Singapore relations continue to grow for the sake of peace, prosperity, and shared well-being,” he said.

The PAP retained its more than two-thirds majority in Singapore’s GE2025 by winning 87 out of 97 parliamentary seats.
