RSA Expands Passwordless Authentication To Linux

KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 (Bernama) -- RSA, the security-first identity leader, announced new passwordless authentication support for Linux environments, expanding its phishing-resistant identity capabilities to cover a broader range of enterprise operating systems.

Linux is widely used across enterprise infrastructure, powering servers, developer environments and critical systems, but has historically lagged in the adoption of modern passwordless authentication compared with Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.

In a statement, RSA said the new capability extends its FIDO-based passwordless authentication framework across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments, aiming to eliminate reliance on legacy credentials in high-risk access workflows.

“Passwordless everywhere is not a marketing aspiration for RSA—it is a working architecture,” said RSA President, Chief Product and Strategy Officer, Jim Taylor, adding that Linux environments have often been overlooked in enterprise security deployments.

The company said the expansion reflects its broader strategy to deliver passwordless access for every user, every environment, every time, including legacy and high-assurance systems commonly found in financial services, government and energy sectors.

RSA said the announcement was made at Authenticate APAC 2026 in Singapore, where it is demonstrating its latest identity security solutions.
