Malaysia, Philippines Commit To Sustained Engagement On Energy Security -- Akmal Nasrullah
KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and the Philippines have agreed on the importance of continuous communication for both countries in addressing energy security issues.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said that among the issues discussed during the online bilateral meeting between the Economy Ministry and the Philippine Department of Energy secretary Sharon S Garin was an explanation regarding the recent diesel-related transaction conducted by the Philippines, which was a commercial transaction between companies and did not involve any government-to-government (G2G) agreement.
“This clarification is important to avoid misunderstandings, maintain good bilateral relations and ensure clear understanding among stakeholders, especially in the challenging global energy market situation,” he said in a post on the ministry’s social media page.
He said both parties also expressed their commitment to continuing to support the spirit of ASEAN cooperation amid current global uncertainties.
Previously, the crisis management team under the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) denied a Philippine media report claiming that Malaysia had sent 329,000 barrels of diesel to the country.
