Invest Selangor To Hold Engagement Sessions For Phase 2 Of Resilience Package
SHAH ALAM, April 20 (Bernama) -- Invest Selangor Bhd will hold engagement sessions with key sectors such as services and construction within one to two weeks as part of efforts to boost the state’s economic resilience through the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package Phase 2.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the approach is being taken to assess the current needs of industries and to design more targeted and effective forms of assistance for the continued sustainability of businesses in the state.
“Invest Selangor plans within the next one to two weeks to engage with important sectors such as services and construction. We want to determine the industry assistance for the second round within a month from now so that they are able to endure despite facing some pressure due to the ongoing crisis.
“We will ensure that the assistance designed is more structured and truly reaches the sectors that need it, so that the state’s economic resilience can be strengthened,” he told the media after attending the Tautan Muhibah event organised by Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor) at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC) here today.
Amirudin said the implementation of the second phase of the package takes into account the global economic uncertainty as well as the need to ensure the local industrial ecosystem remains stable and resilient.
According to him, the phased approach is important to allow the state government to assess the effectiveness of each intervention more holistically before expanding or improving the support measures.
“This approach allows us to evaluate the impact of each assistance more accurately and focus on sectors that are really affected. We want every measure taken to have a direct impact on the recovery and resilience of the state’s economy,” he said.
In another development, Amirudin conveyed his utmost appreciation for the remarks of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, particularly regarding the state’s encouraging economic achievements.
This includes recording investments totalling RM83.9 billion in 2025, exceeding the initial target of RM65 billion and creating more than 61,000 job opportunities.
He said His Royal Highness’ message serves as an important guide in ensuring a balance between economic achievements and continuous policy improvements as well as the implementation of development projects.
“We support and express our highest appreciation for His Royal Highness’ remarks, including on economic achievements and job opportunities that have been recorded.
“This represents a balance in what we need to do because, alongside strong economic achievements, there is still room for improvement,” he said.
Earlier today, in his royal address in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the fourth session of the 15th Selangor State Legislative Assembly, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed his happiness that more than half -- RM48.9 billion or 58.3 per cent -- of the total investment in Selangor last year was from local investors.
Last Thursday, Amirudin announced the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package as a state government initiative to bolster economic resilience in the face of global uncertainties.
The package focuses on immediate support measures, including targeted assistance to the people and strengthening of local economic activities, and also involves coordination among various agencies to ensure the effectiveness of interventions and direct impact on target groups in Selangor.
