Sidec Boosts Global Exposure For Malaysian Tech Startups At SCSE 2026

SHAH ALAM, April 13 (Bernama) -- Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) led a group of 10 Malaysian startups to Taipei and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, as part of its participation in the Smart City Summit and Expo (SCSE) 2026.

In a statement today, Sidec said the initiative underscores its ongoing effort to broaden international exposure for local startups while strengthening international collaboration within the smart city ecosystem.

The delegation featured innovative companies, including Citysage Sdn Bhd, Dataverse Sdn Bhd, DespaQ, HiTerra AI, IOMINSIGHT Sdn Bhd, New Energy Centre Malaysia Sdn Bhd, PAIX Tech, Rymba, VEE Berhad, and Xtractify Sdn. Bhd.

Over a three-day programme from March 17 to 20 in Taipei, the delegation took part in exhibition showcases, pitching sessions, and curated booth visits, which provided startups with valuable insights into global trends and emerging technologies, enabling them to refine their vision through an international lens.

Beyond the exhibition, Sidec said SCSE 2026 served as a platform for meaningful exchange, with the delegation connecting with representatives from 53 countries to share ideas, build networks and explore potential collaborations.

“This environment reinforced the importance of cross-border engagement in accelerating innovation and scaling solutions beyond local markets,” it said.

Sidec also highlighted a notable engagement with Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs official Dr GJ Lee, describing it as a reflection of growing alignment between ecosystems and a pathway for future collaboration.

“It highlighted a key reality: innovation expands not in isolation, but through partnerships built on shared ambition and mutual growth,” the statement said.

Building on this momentum, the delegation continued its engagement in Kaohsiung from March 20 to 22, where discussions with Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Lin Chin-Rong reinforced a shared vision for advancing smart city development.

The visit concluded with an engagement with the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), Taiwan’s largest information and communications technology (ICT) industry body, underscoring the importance of strong industry partnerships in driving sustainable innovation and strengthening bilateral ties.

“Our visit to Tron Energy Technology Corporation also offered a compelling glimpse into the forefront of sustainable mobility.

"From the development of customised battery packs to innovations in electric and autonomous vehicles, the experience underscored how advanced manufacturing is driving the transition toward clean energy and intelligent transportation systems,” the statement said.

Summing up the experience, Sidec described the mission as more than a series of engagements, but as "a journey of perspective" that deepened understanding of global opportunities.

“Through initiatives like this, Sidec continues to position Malaysian startups on the global stage, paving the way for smarter cities, stronger ecosystems, and a future shaped by collaboration and innovation,” it added.
