ADFIM Urges Customers Facing Strain To Engage DFIs For Support Amid Uncertainties
KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The Association of Development Finance Institutions of Malaysia (ADFIM) is encouraging customers to contact their respective development financial institutions (DFIs) and entrepreneur development organisations (EDOs) to explore the support options available, reaffirming the institutions’ ongoing commitment to providing reassurance, partnership, and practical solutions during challenging times.
It said in a statement that it further underscored the importance of clear and compassionate communication during periods of uncertainty.
"The association will continue to strengthen engagement with both state and federal stakeholders to ensure that relevant initiatives and support measures are communicated clearly and reach the communities that need them most," said the association.
As customers navigate ongoing global uncertainties, including recent developments in West Asia, it said DFIs and EDOs continue to play their critical countercyclical role to assist strategic sectors namely small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and the underserved segments of the economy.
"Early and open communication allows DFIs and EDOs to gain a clearer understanding of individual circumstances and to identify support options that are fair, practical, and responsive to customers’ needs," it said in a statement.
Available assistance may include flexible repayment arrangements, restructuring of financing facilities, and targeted advisory support aimed at easing short-term pressures.
The assistance aims to preserve long-term business viability, consistent with the developmental mandate of DFIs and EDOs to promote inclusive economic resilience.
ADFIM also assured the public that its member institutions remain well capitalised and continue to operate within robust and prudent risk management frameworks, enabling them to provide sustained support to customers while maintaining overall financial stability.
"The association reiterated that the DFIs and EDOs ecosystem remains committed to working closely with the government, regulators, customers and key stakeholders to ensure that viable businesses and affected communities continue to receive the assistance they need," it said.
It added that these collective efforts support Malaysia’s broader goal of fostering inclusive, sustainable, and resilient economic growth.
