Samaiden, Retailer Tan Boon Ming Turns Shared Clean Energy Vision Into Reality

KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 (Bernama) -- Renewable energy (RE) company Samaiden Group Bhd and home appliances retailer Tan Boon Ming Sdn Bhd (TBM) officially launched their first solar consumer experience at TBM Bangsar Village today, marking the first physical manifestation of their partnership.

Samaiden said for the first time, TBM customers would be able to explore live solar panel displays, engage directly with advisors, and take practical steps towards installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in their homes, all within a familiar retail environment.

The initiative also offers integrated smart energy solutions, helping homeowners build a more comprehensive and resilient approach to energy management.

Samaiden’s chief strategy officer, Dr Tee Wu Shun, said the collaboration marked a meaningful step in reimagining how clean energy reaches Malaysian households.

“Today marks the next step in bringing solar solutions closer to everyday Malaysians by placing them in a retail environment they already know and trust, making clean energy more visible, practical and accessible.

“But this is about more than rooftop solar,” he said in a statement released in conjunction with the launch.

Tee also said that as household energy needs evolve, particularly with the growth of electric vehicle (EV) charging and the prospect of higher energy costs, both parties want to equip Malaysians with the tools to generate, store and manage their own energy more intelligently.

“This is how we can help turn interest into adoption and adoption into long-term impact,” said Tee.

He said that TBM’s established retail footprint is central to reaching homeowners at scale, with plans to progressively expand the solar and smart energy experience to additional TBM outlets across Malaysia.

Meanwhile, TBM general manager Tan Wai Keat said the launch reflects the company’s growing role not just as a retailer of energy-efficient appliances, but as a gateway to a smarter, more self-sufficient energy future for Malaysian homes.

“We have always helped Malaysians make smarter choices about how they use energy in their homes.

“Today, we are taking that a step further, helping them change where that energy comes from, and how they manage it,” he said.

Tan said as household energy consumption grows and the need for reliability increases, solutions that combine solar generation with smart energy management are becoming less of a luxury and more of a necessity.

“With Samaiden’s expertise behind every conversation our customers have, we are confident we can guide more Malaysians towards that future,” he said.

Meanwhile, Samaiden and TBM reaffirmed that the Bangsar Village launch is the beginning of a broader rollout, with the collaboration also set to extend into the commercial and small and medium enterprise (SME) segments as momentum builds.

The companies said that the collaboration continues to serve as a platform for exploring future clean energy innovations, including smart energy storage and integrated home energy management solutions.
