IJM: MACC Probe Does Not Involve Company; Limited To Individuals

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama)-- IJM Corp Bhd said that it has received a letter from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirming that an ongoing investigation is not related to the company as an entity.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, IJM said that the MACC has also clarified that the investigation is confined to several individuals associated with IJM, and not the company itself.

On Feb 6, the media reported that a top executive of IJM was detained to assist the anti-graft agency in investigations related to corporate governance issues, procurement processes, financial transactions, and overseas asset ownership, estimated to be worth approximately RM2.5 billion.

The MACC’s Special Operations Division began its investigation on Jan 19, focusing on alleged irregularities and possible breaches of relevant laws.

At the close, IJM’s share price rose five sen to RM2.42, with 7.0 million shares traded.
