SC Secures Arrest Warrant Against Former SCIB Chairman Over False Statement To Bursa Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) today obtained a warrant of arrest against former Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB) chairman and non-executive, non-independent director Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah.

The SC said in a statement that Abdul Karim, 61, was previously charged for a similar offence by the capital market regulator in 2021 in relation to false information in the financial statements of Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd.

“The matter was, however, resolved via a compound following the decision of the public prosecutor in accepting Abdul Karim’s representation, where he was imposed with a compound of RM3 million.

“Abdul Karim, who is currently at large, is wanted for the same offence under section 369(b)(B) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007,” it said.

The SC said the public prosecutor has granted consent to initiate criminal proceedings against Abdul Karim for his role in causing SCIB to furnish a false statement to Bursa Malaysia.

According to the filing, Abdul Karim’s last known addresses were at No. 35, Jalan Hijau Pelangi U9/51, Lake Garden Villas, Cahaya SPK, Shah Alam, Selangor, and Flat-3401, 345-Burj Khalifa, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Members of the public who have any information on Karim’s whereabouts are urged to notify the SC at 012-6112496 or email the SC at aduan@seccom.com.my.
