Govt To Form Special Committee To Study Impact Of US-Iran Conflict, National Oil Supply Under Control - PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- The government will establish a special committee to study the impact of the United States (US)-Iran conflict on the national economy following geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Finance Minister II will lead the special committee together with the Economy Minister as well as other relevant ministers to assess the economic impact and current developments.

“The committee will evaluate issues related to the economic impact on a daily basis so that updates can be provided to the government leadership,” he said during a special live press conference by the Prime Minister today.

Also present was Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Anwar also assured that Malaysia’s oil supply remains under control even though the conflict in the region could potentially affect the global energy market.

“The supply of petroleum products in the country is sufficient at least until May 2026.

“The government is also continuously monitoring current developments and striving to protect the interests of Malaysians, ensure the stability of the national economy, while supporting all efforts toward peace and a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing conflict,” he said.
