Mavenir, Deutsche Telekom Cut 5G Core Energy Use By Up To 65 Pct
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Mavenir, the software company building artificial intelligence (AI)-by-design mobile networks, has confirmed its role in two strategic projects with Deutsche Telekom AG to optimise energy consumption in the 5G core network.
In the first project, Mavenir’s cloud-native 5G core software and energy-aware automation capabilities helped achieve up to 65 per cent energy savings during live network validation, setting a new benchmark for sustainable, high-performance 5G core operations in Europe.
Supported by new 5G software features deployed for the first time, the so-called most energy-efficient core uses dynamic software and hardware scaling to reduce energy use and carbon dioxide emissions, in line with the objective of a "zero bit, zero watt" core.
In addition, Mavenir is a key technology partner in Deutsche Telekom’s transition to a unified cloud architecture known as the Horizontal TelCo Cloud, which enables energy optimisation to be scaled across the operator’s entire core network.
According to Mavenir in a statement, this next-generation architecture replaces fragmented and siloed systems with a shared, standardised, cloud-native platform capable of hosting core network services at scale.
The new industry blueprint allows operators to use automation by replacing multiple standalone solutions with a common, standardised and scalable cloud-native platform for all services.
Looking forward, Mavenir will continue to contribute to the evolution of the Horizontal TelCo Cloud through its expertise in energy-optimised cloud-native design, Kubernetes platform development and AI-driven resource management, supporting Deutsche Telekom’s move towards fully automated and energy-aware next-generation core operations.
Mavenir has been a long-term strategic partner in Deutsche Telekom’s cloud transformation programme, providing a cloud-native converged 4G and 5G packet core with network slicing capabilities.
