AmBank Group's Net Profit Rose To RM529.58 Mln In 3Q FY2026

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- AMMB Holdings Bhd (AmBank Group) posted a higher net profit of RM529.58 million in the third quarter of the financial year ending March 31, 2026 (3Q FY2026) compared with RM486.49 in the same period last year.

The banking group said in a Bursa Malaysia filing that the better performance was driven by higher income and a higher net impairment writeback recorded in its wholesale banking division.

It added that the improvement was also supported by a year-on-year (y-o-y) growth of 5.5 per cent in net financing income and 25.6 per cent in non-financing income in its Islamic banking division, as well as higher investment income and higher net earned insurance premiums, partially offset by higher claims in its insurance division.

The company also reported that its revenue increased to RM1.28 billion from RM1.24 billion previously.

For the first nine months ended Dec 31, 2025, AmBank Group's net profit rose to RM1.58 billion from RM1.49 billion previously, while its revenue also edged up to RM3.86 billion from RM3.65 billion.

AmBank Group chief executive officer Jamie Ling said the group delivered a good income and profit growth for the first nine months of its financial year, achieving an annualised return on equity of 10.1 per cent and return on assets of 1.06 per cent.

"Prudentially, our capital position remains strong with liquidity position ample. We are focused to deliver another consistent quarter to close out the FY2026 financial year strongly," he said in a statement.

On the outlook, Ling said although there have been periods of external volatilities driven by geopolitical uncertainties globally, the domestic economy has been more than resilient and expanding.

"We are managing our risk profiles actively, evaluating upside potential as well as downside risk and making the necessary adjustments to our growth plans. We continue to make good progress to deliver the financial goals in the second year of the group's Winning Together (WT29) strategy.”
