Sri Lankan FitsAir To Increase Malaysia Flights To Four-Weekly By End-March

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- Sri Lanka’s low-cost carrier and the first privately-owned international airline FitsAir plans to increase its weekly flight frequency to Malaysia to four from three by the end of March this year.
Fits Aviation (Pte) Ltd chief commercial officer Mohamed Najath Suruba told Bernama that the airline aims to scale up to daily flights by the end of October, with plans to operate double-daily services by next year, underscoring the airline’s long-term commitment to the Malaysian market.
“Currently, we have four destinations -- Dubai, Malé, Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur -- and this summer we are going to increase it to eight destinations. The new destinations are Bangkok, Lahore, Ahmedabad and Delhi,” he said.
He said the airline, which entered the Malaysian market in April 2025, is targeting a load factor of 85 per cent to 90 per cent, after successfully increasing it from 60 per cent to 80 per cent within nine months of commencing operations in Malaysia.
“We moved the load factor from 60 per cent to 80 per cent in nine months. I strongly believe it will easily go up 85 per cent to 90 per cent.
“When we achieve 85 per cent, we want to increase the frequency,” he said.
Mohamed said FitsAir is optimistic about achieving a load factor above 85 per cent once flights are connected to Lahore, citing a significant gap in air connectivity between Pakistan and Malaysia.
“We believe strongly that via Colombo, we can connect them (passengers) from Malaysia to Pakistan.
“So, our new destination is going to start from Lahore at the end of March, and we are going to open the sales in the first week of February,” he said.
Mohamed said FitsAir also aims to connect passengers from Malaysia to Jeddah and is currently working on the plan.
“We are six to nine months away from that project as we try to connect (passengers) from Malaysia to Jeddah via an immediate connection in Colombo.
“That will give so many opportunities to the Malaysian passengers (for hajj or umrah pilgrims) and the neighbouring Muslim countries like Indonesia, to travel to Jeddah via Colombo,” he said.
FitsAir currently operates three A320 aircraft powered by IAE V2500 engines, with seating capacities ranging from 164 to 180.
In Malaysia, NZ World Tours and Travels Sdn Bhd, via its website mynztrip.com, is the general sales agent of FitsAir.
mynztrip.com strategic alliance manager Mohamad Naszari Abu said the collaboration with FitsAir aims to expand its reach to more overseas destinations while introducing the mynztrip.com platform.
“For Visit Malaysia 2026, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are our target markets. We have also made plans for inbound travel to Malaysia by introducing destinations beyond Kuala Lumpur, including Langkawi and Borneo.
“We aim to handle more than 50,000 passengers this year via various promotions, including promoting islands in Malaysia as well as introducing Kuala Lumpur as a preferred destination for Colombo and West Asia, including the UAE," he said.
Meanwhile, mynztrip.com sales and marketing (Malaysia) Arif Aizuddin said mynztrip.com is an all-in-one travel solution platform that provides convenience for all agents to buy from the agency and sell outside, as well as for all clients who enjoy using its portal.
“We expect wider expansion as we have 11 offices worldwide. With the collaboration of FitsAir, we hope to be able to expand our services to Jeddah more easily and to subsequent destinations,” he said.
