Strengthening MSME Boosts Cross-Ethnic Collaboration In The Business Ecosystem
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- Efforts to establish the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) can ensure that cooperation among all ethnic groups involved in an ecosystem or value chain can be maximised, said the Economy Ministry.
In a written reply on the official parliament website, the ministry said the scaling of MSME under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) focuses on the MSME group to grow and compete in the domestic and global markets by strengthening business models and improving the MSME ecosystem.
“The implementation of this strategy is supported through the SME Scaling Catalyst Fund which provides soft loans with an allocation of RM50 million and PRESTIGE 2.0 with an allocation of RM20 million.
“The SME Scaling Interest Rate/Profit Incentive amounting to RM20 million is also provided to support business growth and expansion,” it said.
The government has also provided programmes amounting to RM10 million each, namely the PKS@Bursa programme to help strengthen the readiness of SMEs to be listed on Bursa Malaysia, the PKS@kses programme to assist in the expansion of the SME market and the Sustainable SME Programme to encourage the adaptation of environmental, social and governance (ESG) best practices.
The Economy Ministry was replying to a question from Leong Jee Keen (PH-Selayang) on whether the government has studied the current situation of inter-ethnic business cooperation, whether in terms of supply chain cooperation or other forms of cooperation, to strengthen such cooperation in line with efforts to build a more dynamic and resilient economy.
