Johor State Govt, Gotion High-Tech Co.Ltd Finalising High-Impact Investment

JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 3 (Bernama) --  The Johor state government is in the final stages of discussions with global battery technology company, Gotion High-Tech Co, on the establishment of an advanced lithium battery manufacturing facility in the state.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the discussions followed a recent working visit and strategic meeting between a delegation from Johor and Gotion’s top management in Shanghai, China.

“The establishment of the facility would position the state as a regional hub for electric vehicle battery production and energy storage systems.

“The state government sees the move as a long-term investment that is expected to directly benefit Johorians, in line with the aspirations of the green energy transition and sustainable economic development,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page today.

Onn Hafiz said Gotion would serve as the lead original equipment manufacturer and technology provider, encompassing battery pack manufacturing, module integration, as well as high-value activities across the battery technology and energy management value chain.

He said the ecosystem developed through the investment would create significant opportunities for local industries to grow and collaborate with global players, thereby enhancing technological capabilities and industry competitiveness.

He noted that the resulting ecosystem will create opportunities for local industries to grow and collaborate with global players, while enhancing their technological capabilities and competitiveness.

According to him, the state government is also confident that the strategic collaboration will strengthen Johor’s position as a leading regional green technology investment destination.

“Insya-Allah, this collaboration will support the green energy transition agenda, strengthen Johor’s economic competitiveness, and ensure that the people will benefit through job creation, higher incomes and a more sustainable future,” he added.
