OTS Holdings Opens RM40 Mln Halal Advanced Food Manufacturing Facility In Johor

JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Brand builder and food manufacturing group OTS Holdings Ltd has expanded its halal production capacity with the opening of a new RM40 million advanced food manufacturing facility in Simpang Renggam, Johor.

The facility, which is fully halal-certified and equipped with advanced food and beverage machinery and automation systems, will triple the group’s current halal production output in Singapore to 200 tonnes a month.

The official opening ceremony yesterday was graced by Johor State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee chairman Lee Ting Han, alongside representatives from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Enterprise Singapore, the Singapore Business Federation, the Johor State Islamic Religious Department, as well as several banking, business and industry partners.

In a joint statement today, MIDA and OTS Holdings said the property was acquired by Ellaziq, a unit of OTS Holdings, for RM14.3 million in November 2023, and that it has since undertaken extensive renovation and upgrading works to meet operational, food safety, and quality control standards.

The facility, spanning a land area of 178,863 square feet with a built-up area of 65,000 square feet, is dedicated exclusively to halal production and obtained halal certification in August 2025.

MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the opening of Ellaziq’s new facility reaffirms Malaysia’s strategic position in the global halal economy, particularly in advanced food manufacturing.

“It is a clear testament to the confidence international brand builders have placed in Malaysia’s ecosystem, infrastructure and skilled workforce.

“This expansion leverages the proximity and economic synergy between Johor and Singapore, strengthening regional supply chains and increasing our national halal capacity to serve Muslim consumers and those who prioritise halal-certified products globally,” he said.

He added that the project aligns with the government’s economic agenda to create high-quality jobs and promote the use of advanced machinery in the manufacturing sector.

Meanwhile, OTS Holdings managing director Ong Bee Chip said the new Johor facility underscores the company’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Muslim consumers globally.

“Our focus is not just on increasing (production) volume, but also on creating products that resonate with the values and expectations of the Muslim community, while maintaining the stringent standards of food quality and safety,” he said.

He added that the expanded halal capacity will strengthen the group’s export capabilities, enabling its trusted halal brands to reach markets such as Malaysia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the Middle East, and Africa.
