Proton e.MAS 5 Secures 3,000 Bookings In One Week

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- PROTON e.MAS 5, Malaysia’s first affordable electric vehicle (EV), has received 3,000 bookings within the first week of its launch, including 1,607 units in the first 24 hours.

Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (Pro-Net), a subsidiary of national automaker Proton Holdings Bhd, said the strong debut of the e.MAS 5 builds on the market confidence established by its sibling model, the e.MAS 7.

“The booking numbers have exceeded our expectations. We are grateful that Malaysians continue to place their trust in us to deliver electric vehicles designed specifically for local roads and driving conditions,” said Pro-Net chief executive officer Zhang Qiang.

As at Sept 30, 2025, the e.MAS 7 remained Malaysia’s top-selling EV for the year, with cumulative sales of 6,655 units and a market share of 24 per cent, the statement said.
