ASEAN Business Entity Status To Facilitate Skill Talent Movement, Boost Destination Appeal

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- The introduction of the ASEAN Business Entity (ABE) status will raise Malaysia's destination appeal among publicly listed companies with a widespread ASEAN footprint and mid-sized companies with the potential to expand operations in the country.

CGS International Securities Malaysia (CGS MY) chief executive officer Azizah Mohd Yatim said the ABE addresses skilled talent movement and key challenges for multi-market businesses in mobilising talent and company resources.

ABE status, to be coordinated by the Securities Commission Malaysia, offers businesses and countries a win-win solution to support businesses to scale across ASEAN borders, she said in a statement here today.

“This is further supported by the Investor Pass, led by Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), for multinational companies and potential investors in key sectors such as electrical and electronics, and the continued Residence Pass – a talent fast track,” Azizah said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said at the tabling of Budget 2026 yesterday that the government will introduce the ABE status to facilitate the skilled talent movement, thus supporting the growth of Malaysian companies in ASEAN.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the status would be given to publicly listed companies with a broad ASEAN market footprint and mid-sized companies with the potential to expand their operations.
