Budget 2026 Underscores Govt’s Commitment To Palm Oil Industry – MPOB
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) has lauded the specific allocation in Budget 2026 to the palm oil sector, which reflects the government’s recognition of the industry as a key contributor to the national economy.
MPOB director-general Datuk Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said that the measures announced in Budget 2026 demonstrate the government’s strong commitment to the sustainability and competitiveness of the palm oil sector.
“This budget reinforces the government’s support for palm oil as a strategic national industry. The emphasis on innovation, automation, and sustainability not only enhances industry competitiveness but also creates high-tech, value-added opportunities for local labour,” he said in a statement today.
In Budget 2026, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an allocation of RM63 million to intensify the Anti-Palm Oil Discrimination Campaign and to promote sustainable certification, including among independent smallholders.
Additionally, RM20 million has been allocated to support local companies in developing mechanised and automated palm oil plantation technologies, with backing from MPOB.
Ahmad Parveez said that initiatives such as replanting, strengthening of the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification, and the development of plantation automation technologies will continue to be intensified to ensure the resilience of Malaysia’s palm oil industry.
“These efforts will position Malaysia as a global leader in sustainable palm oil with a positive impact on the economy, society, and the environment,” he said.
