LABUAN, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan today received a detailed briefing from the Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) on the progress, achievements and future direction of the Labuan International Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC).

The session, held during his official visit to Labuan FSA, covered the centre’s 35-year journey, its role in complementing Malaysia’s financial ecosystem, and potential business opportunities.

Amir Hamzah also discussed with Labuan FSA officials strategic areas of growth, including advancing the insurance sector through captive insurance, innovations in Islamic finance via sukuk tokenisation, and the development of Labuan International School.

Labuan FSA director-general Affendi Rashdi said the visit underscored the government’s strong commitment to positioning Labuan IBFC as a dynamic and preferred jurisdiction for international business.

“The minister’s presence reinforces the collaborative efforts between Labuan FSA and the Ministry of Finance to achieve Labuan IBFC’s strategic objectives,” he told Bernama today.

The visit forms part of the Minister’s series of engagements with Ministry of Finance agencies in Labuan.
