Penang To Participate In World Expo 2025, Chow Leads Delegation To Japan

GEORGE TOWN, Sept 21(Bernama) -- Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow is leading a delegation of key state agencies to Osaka, Kansai, Japan, from today until Sept 27 to host ‘Penang Week’ at the Malaysia Pavilion in conjunction with World Expo 2025.

In a statement today, the Penang Chief Minister’s Office said the showcase will spotlight Penang’s investment opportunities, celebrate its vibrant culture and heritage, and reinforce its reputation as a dynamic, forward-looking destination on the global stage.

“As one of the most prestigious international expositions, World Expo 2025 offers Penang a unique and strategic platform to highlight its economic strengths, innovation-driven industries and sustainable development initiatives to an international audience.

“The state will showcase its competitive advantages in the electrical and electronics (E&E), semiconductor, green technology and medical technology sectors, while also underscoring its progress in sustainable urban growth, heritage preservation and tourism development,” the statement said today.

On the sidelines of the expo, the Chief Minister is also scheduled to take part in business forums, investment networking sessions and government-to-government dialogues with influential Japanese stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Chow who is also the Finance, Economic Development, Land and Communications state executive councillor, expressed optimism that Penang’s presence at World Expo 2025 will not only elevate the state’s global visibility but also deliver lasting benefits for Penangites by securing new economic opportunities,  fostering cultural exchange and strengthening global partnerships.

“Penang’s participation is fully aligned with the state’s long-term vision of attracting high-quality investments, fostering meaningful international collaborations and strengthening its global brand as a preferred hub for business, innovation, tourism, and culture,” he said.
