KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur (SCEKL) 2025, to be held Sept 17-19, 2025, will focus on four key areas, anchored by the theme "AI Cities: Shaping Our Digital Futures".
Digital Nasional Bhd’s head of Enterprise Strategy, Prem Kumar Menon said the key areas are artificial intelligence (AI) cities; sustainable and resilient cities; digital entrepreneurship and economic development; and community empowerment through digital solutions.
"We want to be able to move with AI applications and show how AI cities play a big role beyond smart cities.
"It’s basically how we can integrate intelligence into applications or solutions that are being deployed within city councils, empowering citizens and basically easing their lives more effectively," he told Bernama after the media briefing on the SCEKL 2025, here today.
Elaborating on the key focus of the expo, Prem Kumar, who is also SCEKL 2025 secretariat head, said the event would focus on entrepreneurs' development and innovations that are both homegrown and export-ready.
"We are looking at how we can do cross-collaborations between ASEAN and global companies.
"We want to take the lead in setting standards, working closely with ASEAN countries and other nations in bringing these solutions into Malaysia and capitalising on them more effectively, he said.
SCEKL 2025 is expected to gather around 10,000 participants and 2,000 delegates, with 300 exhibitors from ASEAN countries showcasing practical, technology-driven solutions for environmentally sustainable cities.
Members of the media were also briefed on the Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit 2025 and SmartGov Malaysia Summit 2025, which will be held concurrently with SCEKL 2025 at the same location.
The MDX Summit is co-organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the National Digital Department.
It will focus on five core areas: Next-Gen Data, Next-Gen Computing, Next-Gen Trust, Next-Gen Creativity, and Next-Gen Talent, demonstrating how Malaysia is applying technological innovation into applied solutions to benefit businesses, government services, citizens, and the broader regional economy.
Meanwhile, the SmartGov Malaysia 2025, themed "GovTech for the Future - Innovating Public Service Delivery", aims to strengthen Malaysia's government technology ecosystem and accelerate digital adoption in public services.
It highlights three pillars of future-ready governance, namely AI for citizen-centric solutions, Big Data for trust and transparency, and Cloud Computing for agile, resilient services.
