PUTRAJAYA, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is highlighting its strong commitment to sustainability and climate action at Expo 2025 Osaka through the Week 22 programme at the Malaysia Pavilion, which runs from Sept 8 to 14.
With the theme Energising Sustainability, Aspiring Lives, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) are leading the initiative to showcase the nation’s vision of balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship.
In a statement today, PETRA said its secretary-general Datuk Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli officiated at the opening ceremony, emphasising Malaysia’s focus on global collaboration in energy transition, water transformation and climate resilience.
“Two flagship business forums anchor the programme: the Energy Transition & Water Transformation Forum, which gathers policymakers, industry leaders and experts to discuss inclusive energy transition and digital water management, and the Green Technology & Climate Change Forum, focusing on carbon markets, green innovation and private sector involvement in sustainability,” it said.
PETRA said the week also features the signing of several memoranda of understanding and cooperation, marking milestones in strengthening international partnerships.
Among the Malaysian companies participating are Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Petroliam Nasional Bhd, Malakoff, UEM Lestra, Air Selangor, Ranhill SAJ, Concorde Renewable Energy, Thursinar Energy, Pumar Solar Power, FatHopes Energy, Global Tunikara, Nextgreen Global, Gaia Greentech, Heng Hiap Industries and Cube Global.
The Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation, as the implementing agency, curated initiatives in collaboration with key agencies such as the Sustainable Energy Development Authority, National Water Services Commission, Energy Commission, Indah Water Consortium, Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd and the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia.
Malaysia’s participation, PETRA said, is expected to drive trade and investment opportunities in the energy, water and green technology sectors, while reinforcing the nation’s aspiration to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
