NexG Shares Rise On RM1.73 Bln KDN Passport Supply Contract

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- NexG Bhd shares rose in early trade today after its subsidiary, Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd, secured a six-year contract worth RM1.73 billion from the Home Ministry (KDN) to supply Malaysia’s international passports.

At 10.21 am, the counter inched up half a sen to 49.5 sen with 24.67 million shares traded.

Datasonic Technologies has received and accepted a letter of award from KDN for the estimated production of three million international passports annually.

NexG said the new contract builds on Datasonic Technologies’ role as the supplier of Malaysian passports since 2016, and will see the delivery of a new generation of passports equipped with the latest security and durability features, fully compliant with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards.

The passports will also incorporate biometric technology for enhanced protection and seamless use with e-gates, reflecting the government’s commitment to security while enhancing international mobility for Malaysians.
