BUSAN, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof arrived in Busan, South Korea, at 4.45 pm local time on Monday to lead Malaysia’s delegation to the 15th APEC Energy Ministers Meeting (APEC EMM15).

Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, was received by Malaysia’s Ambassador to South Korea, Datuk Mohd Zamruni Khalid.

Deputy Secretary-General (Energy) Mareena Mahpudz is also part of the delegation.

Fadillah will be in Busan until Aug 29 in conjunction with the meeting and a series of working visits.

The APEC EMM is a ministerial-level meeting under APEC and a continuation of the previous session held in Lima, Peru, last year.

Among the key agenda items are discussions on policies and initiatives in the energy sector, as well as efforts to promote cooperation and investment among APEC economies.

South Korea is hosting this year’s meeting under the theme “Accelerating Sustainable, Affordable, Reliable, Secure and Innovative Energy for a Prosperous Future.”

The outcome will be finalised through a joint ministerial statement.

The Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with counterparts from Korea, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Brunei to broaden cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in advancing Malaysia’s energy transition agenda.

He will also make working visits to Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP), the Saeul Nuclear Power Plant and Doosan Enerbility, as well as tour the Gangbyeon Wastewater Treatment Plant in Busan.

In addition, he will attend a meet-and-greet session with the Malaysian diaspora in the city.
