EPB Group Announces Partnerships With Shenzhen Honglin, Nidec

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- EPB Group Bhd, a one-stop food processing and packaging machinery solutions provider, has announced its partnership with Shenzhen Honglin Machinery Equipment Co Ltd to drive automation and market expansion across Southeast Asia

In a statement today, EPB said the partnership would result in the formation of a new entity, AI Medic Device Equipment Supplies Sdn Bhd in which EPB will hold an 80 per cent equity stake while Shenzhen Honglin’s major shareholder and director Fan Yanlin the remaining 20 per cent.

"Shenzhen Honglin is a recognised innovator in robotics, semiconductor software, and automated manufacturing technologies, and this partnership will serve as a strategic platform for localising high-tech equipment solutions, expanding EPB’s automation capabilities, and diversifying its machinery offerings tailored to the food machinery processing industry.

"This includes the integration of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled systems that enhance efficiency, hygiene, and production precision -- core demands of regional manufacturers seeking to modernise operations," it said.

EPB also today announced its sustainability-focused technology partnership with Nidec Corporation, a global leader in motor and drive technology, which will focus on integrating variable frequency drives (VFDs) into EPB’s principal machinery offerings.

This initiative is part of EPB’s wider commitment to environmental, social and governance as well as transformational sustainability.

It added that the adoption of VFDs is expected to improve energy efficiency, reduce machine wear, and lower customers' operational costs, while extending machine life.

EPB managing director Yeoh Chee Min said these two strategic milestones reflect the group's long-term vision to embed sustainability and innovation across all levels of its operations.

"The partnership with Shenzhen Honglin positions us at the forefront of robotics and automation in the region, while our partnership with Nidec enhances the energy efficiency of our machinery and strengthens our ESG credentials.

"Meanwhile, with Nidec’s global network, we ensure faster and more reliable maintenance and servicing, giving our customers the added value of peace of mind and uninterrupted performance through their local agents," he added.

EPB is currently undertaking a major expansion of its production footprint in Penang where it has acquired 3.173 hectares adjacent to its current facility, with plans underway to construct a new factory, showroom, and corporate office.

It said the new integrated facility will also house the partnership’s advanced manufacturing and research and development functions, supporting EPB’s growing automation portfolio and large-scale, high-volume project deliveries across the region.
