Islamic Chamber Of Commerce-Labuan Chapter Retains Leadership At AGM

By Jailani Hasan

LABUAN, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The leadership of the Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Labuan chapter (DPIM WP Labuan) has been re-elected unopposed at its annual general meeting (AGM) this year.

Its chairman, Datuk Dr Ramli Tahir, said that the previous committee members were retained at last weekend’s AGM.

Dr Ramli, who is also the vice-president of the DPIM Central Committee, called on all members of the chamber to remain resilient in facing the uncertainties of the current economic landscape.

He urged members to stand united and continue supporting one another in strengthening the economic foundation of Labuan.

“In these challenging times, we must uphold the spirit of solidarity and cooperation. Together, we can help revitalise Labuan’s economy through impactful and sustainable economic activities,” he told Bernama today.

He also took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt congratulations to the organisers of the Borneo Flora Festival (BFF), which was held here from July 26-30.

“The number of visitors, which exceeded 100,000 from the initial estimate of 50,000, clearly demonstrated that Labuan has great potential to be developed further through the organisation of such large-scale programmes.

“Feedback from chamber members and traders who participated in the BFF was overwhelmingly positive, particularly with the strong turnout of visitors that contributed significantly to local business activity,” he said.

He welcomed the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa’s plan to hold the programme again next year on a larger scale, expressing hope that the DPIM Labuan would be entrusted with a greater role and involvement in future initiatives.
