Palm Oil Exports Ease 10.52 Pct; CPO Output Slips 4.48 Pct In June -- MPOB

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s palm oil exports eased by 10.52 per cent month-on-month (m-o-m) to 1.26 million tonnes in June from 1.41 million tonnes in May, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).

The country produced 1.69 million tonnes of crude palm oil (CPO) last month, a 4.48 per cent decline from 1.77 million tonnes in the preceding month, the agency said in its latest industry performance report.

Palm kernel output decreased 5.66 per cent m-o-m to 396,863 tonnes from 420,658 tonnes in May.

Meanwhile, crude palm kernel oil production fell 8.48 per cent m-o-m to 192,665 tonnes from 210,512 tonnes previously, while palm kernel cake output declined 7.85 per cent m-o-m to 213,398 tonnes from 231,568 tonnes.

On inventories, MPOB said the CPO stockpile fell 5.42 per cent to 1.04 million tonnes in June compared with 1.10 million tonnes in May, while processed palm oil stocks grew 12.19 per cent m-o-m to 988,840 tonnes from 881,372 tonnes previously.

This brought total palm oil inventories to 2.03 million tonnes in June, up from 1.99 million tonnes in May.

On exports, palm kernel oil exports fell 27.60 per cent to 86,173 tonnes from 119,020 tonnes in May.

Palm kernel cake exports eased 1.84 per cent m-o-m to 189,774 tonnes from 193,328 tonnes, oleochemical exports slipped 12.95 per cent m-o-m to 202,829 tonnes from 233,009 tonnes, while biodiesel exports plunged 91.50 per cent to 2,792 tonnes m-o-m from 32,848 tonnes.

No CPO imports were recorded in June, while palm kernel oil imports rose 47.70 per cent m-o-m to 11,926 tonnes from 8,074 tonnes in May.
